Yes we Won the World Pasty Championships at Eden again !

Following our Cornish pasty winning at the last Championships held in 202, we were back at Eden and this time we Won with a plant-based, vegan pasty!
Our Peppered Steak-Less Pasty was introduced just last year as another vegan option in our Phat range and we were amazed and delighted when this won the Company Savoury Award 2022.

Causing quite a stir – no vegan pasty has ever won in the 10 year history and now that’s ‘the double’ with our Traditional Cornish Pasty and Peppered Steak-Less Pasty both winning the top award !

Our plant-based range continues to be hugely popular and proves that vegan options don’t have to be tasteless and boring.
We see sales continuing to grow and it’s not just vegan customers who are looking for ‘meat-free’ options.

Started 14 years ago, Phat have grown from a small husband and wife team, working from their home kitchen and delivering in a quirky converted ‘campervan’ to local businesses and events. Their range of pasties, made in Cornwall, is now available nationally via wholesalers, to operators throughout the country. Many sell the Phat Pasty range within their own catering operations and use the eye-catching Phat branding for their customers.

Their Phat Traditional Cornish Pasty won through using a higher meat content than a standard Cornish Pasty. British Farm Assured beef, potato, swede and onion mixed with Phat’s unique blend of seasoning and wrapped in a shortcrust pastry.

Following on from the win in Cornwall, The Phat Pasty Co went on to be runners up in the British Pie Awards Pasty Category in Melton Mowbray, winning Highly Commended, 2 Golds, 3 Silvers and a Bronze. Their star was the Keralan, Cauliflower, Chickpea & Onion Bhaji vegan Pasty, closely followed by their Butternut Squash & Vegan Feta Pasty. The West Cornwall Pasty Company were the overall Pasty Class winner with a Cheese & Spinach Pasty.

Paul, Phat Controller , said : “It’s been an amazing week for Phat – first winning the Cornish Pasty Company Award in the World Pasty Championships and now having 6 further awards, including the overall Pasty Class ‘Runner Up’ with our vegan pasties. It also goes to prove that whilst a Traditional Cornish Pasty will always be a firm favourite, vegan pasties and pies must be part of the mainstream offer. We are being seen for great tasting authentic pasties with plant-based options and this is now a significant part of our growing business’

Phat’s full range of pasties are available nationally from Bidfood and selective regional wholesalers.
